Joh 11:43, 44 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
The very definitions of Repentance, Justification, Regeneration and Born Again are of the dead soul coming to life, being given a new life and being re-born. Like Lazarus coming out of the grave...born again from death to life.
The very definition of Sanctification...purifying us, setting us free from the chains of addictions, habits, desires, lusts, and flesh (the Old Man / Adamic nature) can be compared to Lazarus...in that although we are Born Again...before Sanctification...we still have our grave clothes hanging on us, binding us.
Sanctification unbinds us, purifies us, sets us free, preserves and stablishes our hearts unblameable in holiness before God.
1Th 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Th 3:13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord
Jud 1:1 ...to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
Christ accomplished this on the cross by shedding His blood for our Sanctification. A separate...definite...act of Grace upon The Cross. This is why Sanctification is a second definite work of Grace.
Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 13:12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Eph 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
